When I was a little girl I wanted to have a magic wand
to make everyone happy. I guess there are some
dreams we never grow out of!
A few years ago I created a Christmas card for friends
and family with all the things I wished for them
in rainbow colours. When I visited my friend Sally
three months later she still had the card on her wall. I
asked her about it and she told me that happiness was
not just for Christmas (!) but that it was for every day
and maybe I should publish it.
So I tweaked it a little and it became
The Happiness Manifesto
Now there are over 25,000 copies out there in the
world, as cards and posters! Mostly, I'm told,
on fridges and bathroom doors!
You can read The Happiness Manifesto now
on my shop page,
A little while ago I received an email from a woman in Ireland who told me that she had
been suffering from depression for some time. A friend had sent her a copy of The
Happiness Manifesto and she had put it on her office wall. She read it through every
morning and she was writing to tell me that it always made her smile and lifted her spirits.
It made her feel happy!
As I read that mail I realised that I had finally found my magic wand. After over 60
years of living on this planet I have created something which contributes to the well-being
of friends, family and strangers. That makes me very happy!
I believe that happiness is not a goal or destination but a way of travelling. It is a way of
BEING on our journey. We can choose to give happiness a try, to focus on the good, the
true and the beautiful. We can choose to do things which we know in our hearts will make
us feel lighter.
Dancing, singing, walking in nature, painting, reading uplifting books, reaching out and
touching another's life with love - whatever it is.......happiness is there as a potential gift
for us all to share and enjoy.
May you be well
May you be happy
May you be at peace
